I started my career looking at the ‘vegetation’ side of livestock systems such as pastures and grasslands. I set trials with subtropical pastures in Argentina and researched plant functional traits in South African rangelands. I worked with low-stress herding in Nebraska (USA) and that way transitioned to the ‘animal’ side of livestock systems. I’m currently studying cattle grazing personalities in New Zealand using GPS collars.
Having worked for a few years at the Global Crop Diversity Trust right after my studies in Bonn I also know about seed science and the management of genebanks for the conservation of crop diversity.
