Dayak Farmers: Land Guardians and Entrepreneurs of Indonesia Central Kalimantan
«Dayak Farmers: Land Guardianas and Entrepreneurs of Indonesia Central Kalimantan» is a EuropeAid project realized through the cooperation of three organizations, including Weltweit. At the heart of the action is the strengthening of civil society in Central Kalimantan, Borneo as an independent actor of good governance. In a region where external economic forces—such as palm oil plantation expansion, illegal mining and the potential implementation of carbon credit schemes over the forest by outside actors—continue to erode traditional livelihoods and ecological resilience, we aim to enhance the capacities of Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) across at least 25 villages, including 10 Dayak Indigenous communities and 15 farmer groups. This will be realized by equipping these grassroots organisations with the tools and knowledge to advocate for land rights, engage in participatory governance, and pursue sustainable livelihoods.
Mtae Water Project
The 20 villages of the Mtae Division in the Lushoto District in Tanzania are increasingly suffering from water scarcity. The Mtae Water User Association, which was informally founded in 2018 and officially established in 2021, is being supported to protect the water sources, to repair and expand the existing infrastructure and to build up its internal structure for the purpose of self-determined management of the water supply for 100,000 inhabitants. In the current phase 2 of this project, trees are planted in the catchment areas of the water sources and future village water engineers from each village are trained.
Cine Comunidad
«POPULUS Proyectos Comunitarios» is an NGO that operates in the suburbs of Bogotá, Colombia, and offers workshops for marginalised children and youth. The aim is to teach them film-making skills and create new perspectives. The films are presented in public screenings in the children’s home neighbourhoods. By showing social problems from the children’s perspective, a new awareness is created among the members and decision-makers of society.
